MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Piedmont College women's basketball team saw its three-game conference win streak snapped with a 65-55 loss at Huntingdon on Saturday afternoon at Roland Arena.

The Lady Lions (6-4, 3-1 USA South) were outscored, 19-7, in the second quarter as the Hawks (2-6, 2-0 USA South) took control and never looked back.

Piedmont was led by another double-double performance from NAKIYAH WASHINGTON, who scored 19 points to go with 11 rebounds. Fellow freshman KYLA MICHIENZI added 13 points on two three-pointers.

The first quarter was a defensive struggle with neither side able to separate. The Hawks scored the final three points of the period to knot the score up at 12-all after the first 10 minutes.

Huntingdon continued its stifling defense in the second quarter, holding the Lady Lions to just seven points. PC scored just two points over the final 4:11 of the first half as the Hawks extended their lead to a game-high 12 points at the break.

Huntingdon led by as many as 20 points midway through the third quarter, but the Lady Lions responded with a 12-3 run over the final 4:14 of the period, capped by Michienzi's three-pointer to cut PC's deficit to 49-38 with 10 minutes left.

Michienzi's second and final three-pointer of the game sliced Huntingdon's lead to 55-50 with 2:21 remaining in the contest, but the Hawks' Shaonica Thomas scored on the next possession to thwart the Piedmont rally.

Up next, the Lady Lions travel to California for two games, starting next Monday at 10 p.m. eastern at Redlands.
