DEMOREST, Ga. – The Piedmont College women's basketball team fell, 77-70, in overtime to Emory & Henry on Thursday night at Cave Arena.

After trailing for much of the second half, the Lady Lions (3-3) rallied in the fourth quarter to force overtime, but the Wasps (4-1) took control in the extra period, outscoring Piedmont, 12-5, to win going away.

Fresh off a career-high 25 points in her last game, ASHLYN ELLISON once again led Piedmont in scoring, with 16 points and 10 rebounds for her first career double-double. NAKIYAH WASHINGTON was in double figures for the fifth straight game, scoring 14 points to go with eight boards.

The Lady Lions roared out of the gate, jumping ahead 16-4 midway through the first quarter. Piedmont was able to take a 25-14 lead into the second quarter thanks to forcing 11 Emory & Henry turnovers and shooting 12-of-18 from the field.

The tides began to turn in the second quarter, as the Wasps held PC to just five points in the quarter. The Lady Lions committed 10 turnovers and made just two field goals as Emory & Henry took a 36-30 edge into the locker room.

Piedmont kept the contest within striking distance in the third quarter and went into the fourth trailing, 50-44.

PC was finally able to tie the score on EMILY WILEY's three-pointer with 6:37 remaining. However, the Wasps jumped back in front before the Lady Lions retook the lead for the first time since the opening period on Ellison's layup with 2:59 left.

After Ellison split a pair of free throws to put Piedmont up by two points with under 30 seconds to play, Kylea Coooper's driving layup tied the score at 65-all and sent the game to overtime.

The Lady Lions led briefly early in overtime as Washington's runner gave them a 68-67 lead. Unfortunately, Emory & Henry's Sydney McKinney drilled a three-pointer less than a minute later to give the Wasps a 70-68 advantage. Then, after a BRITTANY WALKER layup retied the score at 70 apiece, Emory & Henry closed out the game on a 7-0 run to claim the victory.
