MARYVILLE, Tenn. – The Piedmont College men's basketball team used a balanced scoring effort to hold off Johnson University (Tenn.), 76-73, and cap off a perfect weekend in Maryville.

The win marks the first time in the NCAA Division III era (Since 03-04) that Piedmont has started a season with three consecutive wins.

One day after producing his first career double-double, junior forward JORDAN FOOTE finished a rebound shy of another one, going for 14 points and nine boards to lead the Lions. He was joined in double figures by MILES RILEY (12 pts) and JUSTIN QUICK (10 pts), whose two late three-pointers helped Piedmont take the game.

Neither team was able to gain much separation throughout much of the first half. The Royals (2-2) led by as many as six points just over the midway point of the half, but the Lions (3-0) closed the period on a 6-0 run, culminating with EVAN EASTON's buzzer-beating layup.

The second half was also closely contested with numerous lead changes over the first 10 minutes of the half.

Then, with PC clinging to a 68-66 lead with under four minutes to play, sophomore guard JUSTIN QUICK took control of the game, knocking down two three-pointers and a clutch jumper in the final minutes to help keep the Lions undefeated early in the season.

Up next, the Lions will open their home slate next Saturday, Nov. 23 at 2 p.m. against Toccoa Falls.
