DEMOREST, Ga. – The Piedmont College women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision at home on Friday night to USA South Athletic Conference leader Maryville College.
The Scots (7-4-0, 3-0-0 USA South) scored in the 15th minute after Shannon Reagan collected a loose ball and beat junior keeper
MIRANDA MCNALLEY to the low left post for the game-winner.
Despite the goal, McNalley played strong in-between the pipes, making six saves including a huge penalty kick in the first half.
A Piedmont (7-5-1, 2-1-0 USA South) hand-ball inside the 18-yard box gave the Scots an excellent scoring opportunity in the 17th, but McNalley stopped Reagan's shot to keep the score within one.
The Lady Lions went into halftime with an 8-7 shot advantage and had three corner kicks to Maryville's zero.
The second half mirrored the first as both teams battled hard for offense. Maryville led 9-6 in shots, but needed six saves in the final 45 minutes to hold onto the win.
