Piedmont Scores Three Second-Half Goals In Win Over Toccoa Falls

DEMOREST, Ga. – The Piedmont College women's soccer stepped out of non-conference action on Tuesday night, as the Lady Lions defeated local rival Toccoa Falls College 4-0 at the Walker Athletic Complex.

Piedmont (10-5-1) controlled the game from start to finish, outshooting Toccoa Falls (2-9-1) 47-1.

Senior VERONICA CAPPAS scored the game's first goal off a brilliant header after ALEEA BISHOP found her classmate for the opening score in the 21st minute. Both players have missed significant time due to injury this season and are appearing in their seventh and third games, respectively.

Piedmont closed the half with a 1-0 lead, 24 shots and eight corner kicks.

The second half saw the Lady Lions' offense produce, as they added three scores.

TORI ROPER faced a one-on-one with the Toccoa keeper, but just before a save could be made, a defender blasted the ball into the net for an own goal in the 51st minute.

Just over 13 minutes later, CASSIE KIRK added her second goal of the season after intercepting a pass from the Toccoa Falls goalie, placing the ball on the right post for a deflection.

JOANNA TSESMELIS scored her first goal of the season off an assist from GABBY LOTTER in the 74th. Tsesmelis led all players with seven shots, with three being on goal.

MIRANDA MCNALLEY started the game in goal and stopped the only shot Toccoa Falls managed. EMILY SKELTON closed the game, playing the final 13:53.
