MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Piedmont College women's basketball team used a strong fourth quarter to take down Huntingdon, 82-67, on Saturday evening in Montgomery.

Neither team was able to pull away for three and a half quarters, but the Lady Lions (11-3, 5-0 USA South) used a dominant late fourth quarter rally to run away from the Hawks (10-3, 4-2 USA South) and earn their fifth straight win overall and start 5-0 in league play for the second consecutive season.

Despite a quiet first half, junior guard
AMARI PRICE saved her best for last, scoring 13 of her 20 total points in the fourth quarter. She also finished with nine assists to lead all players. She was joined in double figures by
JATASIA BAILEY, who poured in 19 points to go with four rebounds and three assists.
BRITTANY WALKER notched her first double-double of the season, scoring 13 points to go with 11 rebounds.

The Hawks jumped out to a small lead early in the first quarter, but the Lady Lions went on a 7-1 run over the final three minutes of the period to take a 24-20 lead into the second quarter.

Both teams continued to play efficient offense throughout the second period, with Piedmont extending its lead to as many as seven points midway through the quarter. Huntingdon battled back to briefly take the lead before PC ended the half with a 38-36 advantage. The Lions shot 60 percent from the floor in the first 20 minutes, but were held without a three-pointer. Walker scored 10 of her 13 total points in the second half on 4-of-4 shooting.

The game continued to be played closely in the third quarter. Both teams grabbed possession of the lead, but neither was able to pull away. After the Hawks took a 55-54 lead late in the period, the Lady Lions ended it on a 5-0 to establish a five-point advantage heading into the final 10 minutes.

Piedmont saved its best play for crunch time, outscoring Huntingdon, 21-7 over the final six minutes to earn the 15-point victory.

The Lady Lions are back in action tomorrow afternoon, remaining on the road to take on Agnes Scott at 2 p.m.
TURNING POINT:
- Clinging to a 63-60 lead with 5:16 remaining in the game, the Lady Lions made a furious 12-2 run to effectively put the game away.

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:

AMARI PRICE took over the game in the fourth quarter, scoring 13 points in the final period. She also added nine more assists after entering the contest leading the conference.

JATASIA BAILEY tallied 19 points, including a perfect 4-of-4 mark from the free throw line.

BRITTANY WALKER (11 rebounds) and
HOPE FRANKLIN (12 rebounds) combined for 23 rebounds as the Lady Lions dominated the rebounding battle, 49-29.
