ATLANTA – The Piedmont College women's soccer team suffered its second defeat of the season on Friday night after falling 3-0 to #24 Emory University.
Piedmont (5-2-1) opened the game on the attack with five shots in the opening 4:38 of play. The Lions placed three of those shots on goal, but a save by Emory's (5-2) Danielle Staffin and two defensive saves by the Eagles spoiled the scoring chances.
Emory broke the scoreless tie in the 39th minute after Arielle Williamson scored her first of two goals of the evening after a deflection off a Piedmont defender found the freshman for the first goal of the night.
The Lady Lions would go into halftime trailing 1-0 and were outshot 9-7.
Sophomore keeper
MIRANDA MCNALLEY made four first-half saves and ended the game with eight saves. McNalley played the first 79 minutes while junior
EMILY SKELTON closed out the remainder of the game.
Emory took control in the second half and outshout Piedmont 14-5.
The Eagles would add scores in the 53rd and 70th to close out the scoring.

-- The three goals allowed on Friday are the most the Lady Lions have allowed under head coach Timmy McCormack.
-- In the two losses and the one draw, Piedmont has been held scoreless.
