DEMOREST, Ga. - The Piedmont College softball team is moving on in the USA South softball tournament after a 12-4 win in game three over Huntingdon. The win claimed the best of three series sending Piedmont to the USA South Spring Sports Festival.

The Lady Lions took control early as starter Madison Hunt struggled for the Hawks lasting just 1.1 innings giving up seven runs on six hits. HANNAH HOBAN got the scoring started with a bases-clearing triple to give PC an early 3-0 lead with just one out.

Piedmont would score six runs on only three hits in the first inning, but the Hawks answered back to cut the lead in half with three runs of their own in the bottom of the frame. The first inning saw nine runs scored on five hits with the Hawks leaving the bases loaded.

Both teams would add a run in the second inning making it 7-4, but that was the last bit of offense the Hawks would muster. MELISSA ECKMAN gave up just one hit after the second inning shutting down the Hawks as she earned the win moving to 13-7.

Piedmont scored in every inning with two runs in the top of the fifth to make it 12-4 meaning it was an early ending as PC run-ruled Huntingdon to claim the series.

Standout Performances
