ROME, Ga. – The Piedmont men's lacrosse team stayed in-state on Tuesday but fell 19-8 to Berry College at Valhalla Stadium.Â
The Vikings scored the game's first goal just 1:05 in the contest, but the Lions answered with a pair of goals from
JOSH COBBINA and a goal from
JEREMY KOHN to take a 3-1 lead with 4:43 left in the opening quarter.Â
Berry took control with multi-quarter 4-0 run to pull ahead 5-3 early in the second, but the Lions responded with their own 3-0 run. Kohn scored with 10:02 remaining in the first half before
BRADY JENKS scored 17 seconds later to tie the game.Â
Kohn scored his third of the game with 8:10 left as the Vikings scored twice to regain the lead once more.
CHRIS HADLOW tied the game late in the half, but a Vikings goal with 29 seconds left gave Berry a 8-7 lead at halftime.Â
The Vikings opened the second half with six unanswered goals in the third quarter and out-scored the Lions 5-1 in the final 15 minutes.Â
ZACH CZULADAÂ finished with 13 saves in 48:09 before
PATRICK SMITH closed the game in goal for the final 11:51.Â
LAMONT NESBITT went 11-for-24 at the faceoff dot and had three ground balls.Â
