Lady Lions Fall 21-3 In USA South Championship Game

LAGRANGE, Ga. –  The Piedmont women's lacrosse team lost 21-3 to Meredith College in the USA South Athletic Conference championship game on Saturday. 

The Avenging Angels, who are the five-time defending conference champions, built a 12-0 lead before ROWAN BUMPASS put Piedmont on the board with 6:39 left in the opening half. 

Meredith would lead 15-1 at halftime and opened the second half with a 3-0 run. 

Piedmont responded with a pair of goals from EMMA FRANSEN and CASSIDY HEFLIN with 18:41 remaining in the game.

Meredith would close the game with a 3-0 run. 

ROWAN BUMPASS, DOMONIQUE STEELE, CASSIDY HEFLIN , MEGAN KOWALEC and MATTIE KEATON were named to the 2018 USA South All-Tournament team. 

Meredith's Holly Hite was named tournament MVP. 

Keaton finished the game with 21 saves and totaled 41 saves in two games for Piedmont.
