DEMOREST, Ga. – The Piedmont men's tennis team closed out the regular season with a 5-4 loss to Berry College on Wednesday afternoon at the Burgen Tennis Courts.Â
The Lions will head to the USA South Athletic Conference tournament on Friday and will play Averett at 2:00 p.m. in LaGrange, Ga.Â
Piedmont jumped out to a 2-1 lead after the #1 team of
NATHAN METZGER and
JACKSON HILL won 8-4 and the #2 team of
SAMUEL NIEBANCK and
ALEXANDER TOMLIN won 8-2 in doubles play.Â
Berry would tie the match 2-2 after taking #2 singles, but Metzger won 7-5, 6-1 at the #1 spot to put the Lions ahead 3-2.Â
The Vikings would win the next three singles matches to clinch the match.Â
ANDREW CHITTYÂ closed the match with a 6-4, 3-6, 13-11 win at #6.Â
