Softball Splits With Pomona-Pitzer to End California Trip

CLAREMONT, Ca. - The Piedmont College softball team split a doubleheader with Pomona-Pitzer to end the West Coast trip for the Lady Lions. Pomona-Pitzer claimed game one 3-0 while Piedmont would shut out the Sagehens in game two 5-0.

In game one, the Lady Lions were no-hit as they could not get the bats going against the Sagehens' Rodarte. Rodarte won the contest with seven innings pitched giving up no hits, no walks, hitting one batter and striking out 13. 

In game two, Piedmont's bats were finally ignited with 10 hits in the game while BECCA EDDINS held Pomona-Pitzer to five hits. The Lady Lions put up a single run in the first inning and added four more in the third inning to seal the victory. 

Turning Point
--In both contests, the pitching won the battle on one side as Piedmont was shut out in game one, but was able to shut out the Sagehens in game two. 

Standout Performances
--Three Lady Lions had two hits in game two with ALLYSON GENTRY, JESSICA BAGWELL and HANNAH HOBAN all recording two hits. 

Inside the Box Score
--Piedmont was no-hit in game one against the Sagehens.

News & Notes
--The Lady Lions were 4-2 over the West Coast California trip.
