MONTGOMERY, Al. - The Piedmont College softball team split with Huntingdon College Sunday taking a 4-3 win in nine innings but dropping a 4-3 decision in game two. MELISSA ECKMAN took both decisions in the circle as her record is now 10-7 on the year.

Piedmont took the lead in game one as the first run was walked in, then the Hawks answered in the bottom of the frame to tie the game. Huntingdon took the lead an inning later scoring two runs on three hits and one error.

The Lady Lions trailed 3-1 until the top of the seventh when PC was down to the final out, but HANNAH HOBAN reached on a fielder's choice and an error by the Hawks allowed a pair of runs to score to tie the game.

It was not until the ninth inning that Piedmont would score a run to break the tie as the run scored on no hits and two errors. The final scoring innings for Piedmont (7th & 9th) saw Piedmont score three runs on no hits and three errors.

Piedmont took an early lead in game two with an unearned run off another error to lead 1-0 in the first inning. The Hawks tied it in the third inning and took the lead in the fifth, but the majority of the scoring came in the final frame.

Both teams plated two runs, but it was the Hawks who would take the walk-off win. Piedmont's two runs were scored when MARIANN KENNISON doubled with two outs to keep the Lady Lions' hopes alive.

Turning Point
--An error by the Hawks in the seventh inning allowed Piedmont to score two runs and stay in the contest, but it was an error in the top of the ninth that allowed the Lady Lions to take the lead 4-3.
--An error by the Lady Lions gave the Hawks the walk-off win in game two by the same score of 4-3.

Standout Performances
--MELISSA ECKMAN pitched all nine innings to earn the win in game one allowing seven hits and just one earned run.
--JOSIE COKER was the only Lady Lion to have a multi-hit game on the day going 2-for-4 in game two.

News & Notes
--Both pitchers only allowed one earned run of the combined seven scored in game one.
