LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. – The Piedmont men's tennis team lost 6-3 to USA South West Division leader Covenant College on Friday night.
Covenant currently sits atop the USA South Athletic Conference West Division with a perfect record of 5-0 while the Lions and LaGrange are tied for second with records of 5-2.
Piedmont fell behind 3-0 after the Scots swept doubles play. The #2 team of
SAMUEL NIEBANCK and
ALEXANDER TOMLIN and the #3 team of
ANDREW CHITTY and
BRYAN BARNETT each lost 8-5.
NATHAN METZGER and
JACKSON HILL paired up at the #1 spot but lost 8-4.
Covenant would then win at #2, #1 and #3 singles to clinch the match.
HARRISON LABOLLITA won 6-1, 6-2 at #5 singles to give the Lions their first point of the match before Chitty took a 6-3, 6-2 win at #6 singles.
Barnett closed the match with a 5-7, 6-1, 10-7 win at #4.
