Lady Lion Softball Takes Two From Agnes Scott

DECATUR, Ga. - The Piedmont College softball team picked up another pair of conference victories with a sweep of Agnes Scott Wednesday. The Lady Lions took a 13-1 win in game one with a 13-4 victory in six innings in game two. 

MARIANN KENNISON was the star of the show in game one as she belted two home runs to add to her total of six on the season. This marks her first multi-home run performance of her career with the Green and Gold.

Piedmont took the lead early in game one with two runs in the second inning but the Scotties cut it to 2-1 in the third. The Lady Lions would begin to motor through offensively scoring three runs or more in each the fifth, sixth, and seventh with a total of five runs in the seventh inning. 

MELISSA ECKMAN earned the win with one run scored on three hits to move to 8-6 on the season. 

The Lady Lions again jumped out to an impressive early lead with six runs in the top of the first inning in game two. MADISON WHITESIDE earned the win in the circle moving to 4-3 this season. Piedmont totaled 19 hits in the game with six athletes recording multi-hit games. 

Turning Point
--The Lady Lions scored a pair of runs in the second inning off an error by the first baseman to take a 2-0 lead which would be enough to secure the lead through the contest. 
--Piedmont had seven extra base hits in game two including BECKA ROSS hitting a home run. 

Standout Performances
--MARIANN KENNISON had a pair of home runs in game one as she was 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored. 
--HALEY HIXON was 4-for-4 at the plate with one RBI and two runs scored. 

News & Notes
--Piedmont is now a perfect 6-0 in conference play. 

Up Next
--The Lady Lions are set to take on LaGrange on Saturday in a doubleheader at 1 & 3.
