DEMOREST, Ga. – The Piedmont men's tennis team cruised to a 9-0 win over Maryville College for its second USA South Athletic Conference this season.
This is the second 9-0 conference win as the Lions won at Huntingdon in late February.
Piedmont jumped out to a 3-0 lead after doubles play.
The #2 team of
ALEXANDER TOMLIN and
SAMUEL NIEBANCK put Piedmont on the board with an 8-1 win before the #3 team of
ANDREW CHITTY and
HARRISON LABOLLITA won 8-2 to put Piedmont ahead 2-0.
The #1 team of
JACKSON HILL and
NATHAN METZGER escaped the closest doubles match to win 8-6.
In singles play, the Lions won four matches in straight sets.
DALTON PATTERSON won by default in the #6 spot.
BRYAN BARNETT cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win at #4 before
CHASE MORRIS clinched the match at #5 with a 6-3, 6-0 win.
Metzger won 6-3, 6-0 at #1 while Hill survived a 6-7, 6-4, 10-8 win at #2.
