DEMOREST, Ga. - The Piedmont College softball team picked up a pair of wins over Mississippi University for Women Thursday with a 7-5 win and an 8-4 victory. The pair of wins move the Lady Lions to 13-9 overall as they have won their last five games in a row.

The Lady Lions led early, but an error allowed a pair of runs to score for the Owls in the fourth inning as MUW took a 4-3 lead. Piedmont would answer back in the bottom of the frame with a pair of runs themselves as TK SAULS singled to center field to send BECKA ROSS in followed by a sac fly by MADELEINE KALAFUT.

Piedmont would give up one run to tie the contest at five but two runs on one hit and two errors gave PC the lead in the sixth inning as Piedmont took a 7-5 decision. BECCA EDDINS earned the win entering in relief, pitching 3.2 innings giving up three hits and one run. 

Game two was all Owls early as they led 4-1 after the top of the second, but Piedmont's offense exploded in the fourth inning as 11 batters came to the plate forcing three pitching changes in the inning. Piedmont had six runs on five hits to lead 7-4 and would add one run in the sixth to take the 8-4 victory.

This time it was MELISSA ECKMAN who entered in relief to earn the win pitching the final four innings giving up four hits and no runs.

Turning Point
--In the sixth inning of game one, Piedmont scored two runs on one hit and two errors to claim the lead and seal the win.
--In game two, Piedmont came from behind in the fourth inning trailing 4-1 and scored six runs on five hits to lead 7-4 heading into the fifth.

Standout Performances
--MARIANN KENNISON and JESSICA BAGWELL both posted 3-for-4 performances with Kennison's coming in game one while Bagwell's was in game two.

News & Notes
--The Lady Lions have won their last five straight contests.
