DEMOREST, Ga. - It came down to the final play in game two with Piedmont's ANDREW BURDEN standing at third, but the Lions were unable to bring him home dropping a 7-6 contest to split with #7 Birmingham-Southern Friday. Piedmont picked up a big 12-3 win over the top-10 squad in game one thanks to an explosive offense and stellar pitching.

In game one, SAM CARPENTER picked up his first win of the season tossing 6.2 innings allowing three runs on five hits while striking out seven. The offensive support certainly made his task easier as the Lions had five runs in the second inning and once again put up a five spot in the fourth.

The Lions had four extra base hits in the game including NOAH HEATHERLY hitting his first career homerun.

In game two, the Panthers were the team that took control early with three runs on two hits and two errors in the third inning. BSC never trailed in game two though Piedmont threatened with four runs in the bottom of the seventh to trail 6-5. The Lions also put a runner 90-feet from home with no outs in the bottom of the ninth but were unable to push across the game-tying run.
