MACON, Ga. - The Piedmont College men's basketball team faced Mercer Friday evening in a non-counting Division I exhibition for the Lions who dropped a 105-52 decision to the Bears. Piedmont was led by freshman
WILL RICHTER who notched 11 points for the Lions.
The Bears led throughout the contest as Piedmont trailed early by just five points, but quickly Mercer was able to race out to a 42-15 lead. In the first half,
ANDREW STIMPSON led Piedmont with six points as he contributed all his points in the first half of play.
The Lions made just one 3-pointer in the first half trailing 55-24 at the break, but were able to net seven from deep in the second half. Three of those seven came from Richter as Piedmont improved to shooting 38.9% from beyond the arc in the second half.
Mercer had seven players in double figures led by DJ Peavy with 16 points.
Turning Point
--With 13:39 remaining in the first half it was a five point lead for the Bears, but Mercer would go on a 27-5 run to distance themselves and secure the lead.
Standout Performances
--Freshman
WILL RICHTER led the Lions with his 11 points in the game as the only Lion to score in double figures.
Inside the Box Score
--Richter scored three of Piedmont's eight 3-pointers in the contest with all three coming in the second half.
News & Notes
--This is a non-counting Division I exhibition so Friday's stats will not count toward the 2018-19 season.
