Women’s Soccer Cruises to 4-0 Win Over Toccoa Falls

TOCCOA FALLS, Ga. – The Piedmont women's soccer team took a short trip to Toccoa Falls on Monday night and came away with a 4-0 win for its final regular season game of the year.
 
Coming off a USA South Athletic Conference Quarterfinal win over Methodist on Saturday, the Lady Lions (15-4-1) used that momentum and scored twice in each half to take the win over the Screaming Eagles (5-11).
 
The game got to a sluggish start and saw the a 0-0 score carry into the 39th minute before SAMANTHA ISHEE booted the ball from 25 yards out, beating the keeper to the top-left corner.
 
Just over five minutes later, AMANDA WEINHART scored her second goal of the season after a KATELYN SMITH shot rebounded off the goalie, giving the freshman an open goal for an easy score.
 
Piedmont carried a 2-0 lead and an 18-1 shot advantage into halftime.
 
After not playing in the first half, ABBY COX began the second half and scored 18 seconds in with an assist from Ishee. Cox was able to beat the goalie to the lower right side.
 
Freshman OLIVIA JUSTUS scored her first career goal and Piedmont's final goal in the 80th minute after delivering a strike from over 20 yards.
 
Piedmont would end with 33 shots to Toccoa's two.
 
ASHLYN ATNIP earned the start for Piedmont in goal and made one save in the first half while MIRANDA MCNALLEY played the second half and made one save.
