GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Piedmont College women's soccer team took down host school and top-seed Greensboro College 2-1 in double overtime in Friday's semifinal matchup as the Lady Lions advance to the USA South Athletic Conference Championship game.

The Lady Lions will play the winner of the second semifinal game between Maryville and Covenant. The championship game will take place on Saturday, Nov. 3, at 2 p.m. in Greensboro, N.C.

Tied 1-1 in the second overtime period, CASSIE KIRK corralled a loose ball inside the Greensboro box and delivered the game-winner.

A KATELYN SMITH cross bounced off Greensboro's (17-1-0) keeper's face as SARAH WEBER tapped the ball to an open Kirk, who delivered the game-winner.

Piedmont (16-4-1) started off a tad sluggish and allowed its eighth goal of the season in the 19th minute as the Pride's Anna Rae Porcelli bent her corner kick in for the game's opening goal.

The Pride would close out the first-half leading 9-5 in shots.

Smith would tie the game early in the second half after beating the keeper with a brilliant shot from the right side of the field to the left side of the goal.

Both teams would battle during the final 43 minutes of regulation, but neither team would find the back of the net.

Greensboro would place the only shot on goal in the first overtime period, but MIRANDA MCNALLEY made her fourth and final save of the game to keep Piedmont alive.

Piedmont would take the lone shot in the second overtime period as Kirk sealed the fate for both teams.

McNalley allowed just her seventh goal of the season and made four saves in the win.
