DEMOREST, Ga. – The Piedmont women's soccer team took a 2-0 win over Methodist University on Saturday and will advance to the USA South Athletic Conference Tournament semifinals.
The Lady Lions, who are the second seed from the West Division, will matchup with Greensboro College, the top seed from the East Division on Friday, Nov. 2 in Greensboro, N.C.
Piedmont (14-4-1) opened the game with the first five shots of the contest before Methodist (8-7-1) fired off its first in the 13th minute.
The score remained tied at 0-0 until a garbage goal by
ALLIE KUZEL gave Piedmont a 1-0 lead in the 39th minute. Kuzel was able to the beat the goalie with her shot after the ball was bounced around inside the 18 after a Piedmont corner kick.
The Lady Lions would take a 1-0 lead into halftime and led 9-7 in shots.
The second half started off sluggish for both teams as Methodist received two yellow cards. The Monarchs outshot Piedmont 4-2 in the first 27 minutes of the second before an
ANSLYN STAMPS goal all but ended the game.

DEVIN HAUPT free kick sent the ball deep into Methodist's box as
CASSIDY REICH's shot bounced off the post. Stamps was able to tap in the loose ball to give Piedmont the insurance goal it needed.
The Lady Lions played keep-away for the final 13 minutes to take the win.
MIRANDA MCNALLEY made three saves in 90 minutes in the goal.
