Haupt Scores First Career Goal to Lead Piedmont Past Oglethorpe, 1-0

DEMOREST, Ga. – Tied 0-0 late in the first half, SAMANTHA ISHEE connected with DEVIN HAUPT on a corner kick to give Piedmont the game winning goal, as the Lady Lions defeated in-state opponent Oglethorpe University 1-0 on Monday.
 
The goal was Haupt's first collegiate goal in three seasons as the junior has played primarily defense during her time in Demorest. Ishee added her third assist of the season.
 
Despite the 1-0 result, Piedmont (7-3-1) controlled most of the game, out-shooting the Stormy Petrels (3-8) 19-2.
 
ALLIE KUZEL made her first appearance as a forward this season and led all players with five shots. VERONICA CAPPAS added three shots while JAZMIN PENADO, Haupt and Ishee had two shots.
 
Sophomore keeper MIRANDA MCNALLEY recorded her seventh shutout of the season while making one save.
 
The NATALIE MUNOZ-led defense has eight shutouts on the season and has allowed five goals in 11 games. MADISON HATFIELD, KATELYN SMITH, Kuzel and Haupt have been the main contributors for the Lady Lions' stifling defense.
