LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. - It took extra time, but the Piedmont College men's basketball team survived and took an 89-82 win over Covenant in overtime on the road Thursday evening. Piedmont had three players post double-doubles in the contest as four players accounted for all but 14 of the Lions' points.

The Lions took control early building a 10-2 lead before the first media timeout, but with 12:30 to play, it was just a four point game 16-12 in favor of the Lions. Piedmont then used a 9-0 run to build a lead and continued to build that lead up to 21 at the half leading 46-25.

Despite having a 21-point lead at the half, the Scots would charge back in the contest using a 10-0 run to cut it to 57-47 with 10:21 to go in the second half. Covenant continued to chip away, eventually taking the lead with 5:25 to play.

From that point on it was never more than a three point game either direction, but PC held the lead 78-75 with 27 seconds to play, but a James Mitchell 3-pointer with five seconds remaining tied the contest and forced OT.

In overtime, neither team scored for nearly two minutes, but then it was all Lions as Piedmont outscored the Scots 11-4 allowing just one basket from the floor.

Turning Point
--The Lions used four steals in the five minute OT period to seal the win creating extra opportunities for the Piedmont offense.
