Lady Lions Extend Unbeaten Streak with 3-1 Victory Over Agnes Scott

DECATUR, Ga. – In the second of two regular season contests against Agnes Scott in 2017, the Piedmont College women's soccer team claimed a 3-1 win over the Scotties for the season sweep. The Lady Lions had three separate goal scorers with all three of Piedmont's scores coming in the first half of play. 

The first goal came in the 24th minute as Jazmin Penado headed in a shot off a corner kick by TORI GILLETT giving Penado her third goal of the season. The Lady Lions would then score back-to-back goals within a two minute time span as COURTNEY BELL and CASSIE KIRK both added to the Lady Lions' total. 

Bell's goal came in the 33rd minute while she earned the assist on Kirks' goal in the 35th minute. The Scotties' goal came in the 85th minute as MIRANDA MCNALLEY posted five saves in the contest allowing just one goal. 

Turning Point
--The Lady Lions used a three goal advantage at the half to propel Piedmont to victory.  

Standout Performances
--COURTNEY BELL posted a goal and an assist marking her first goal of the 2017 season. 

News & Notes
--The Lady Lions have now opened conference play 2-0 four of the five seasons since joining the USA South. 
--This marks the second time Piedmont has played Agnes Scott this season but the first time in conference play.

--Piedmont returns home to take on Brevard College on Tuesday, October 3 as part of a home doubleheader with the men's team.
