DEMOREST, Ga. – Senior SAVANNAH CASTLES scored in the 83rd minute off a corner kick from TORI GILLETT to give Piedmont a 2-1 USA South Athletic Conference win over in-state rival Covenant College on Saturday.

Tied 1-1 late in the second half, Castles checked in for Piedmont at the 81:57 mark to try to give a spark for the Lady Lions. Less than a minute later, the senior found Gillett's cross for the game winner.

Piedmont was able to hold strong on defense and made several clears as time ran out for the Scots.

Junior CASSIDY REICH scored early for Piedmont, striking the ball in the upper left corner in the fifth minute. The goal came off the first shot of the game. PC would go on and control much of the first half and held the Scots to zero shots in the first 45:00.

Covenant scored its lone goal in the 58th minute after a loose ball was put in the back of the net after a brilliant save by freshman keeper MIRANDA MCNALLEY.

The Scots would then go on the offensive and take two more shots and control the ball until the Piedmont game winner.
