ROME, Ga. – Sophomore ANSLYN STAMPS scored in the 107th minute to give the Piedmont women's soccer team a 1-0 double overtime victory over in-state rival Berry College on Wednesday night.
The goal was Stamps' first of the season and helped Piedmont improve to 5-0-1 for the year as USA South play begins this weekend. Stamps took just two shots for the game.
The Piedmont offense stepped up in the second overtime period by taking five shots. The defense also played its part in the win by allowing no shots in the second overtime.
Freshman MIRANDA MCNALLEY recorded her third shutout of the season and recorded five saves in the win. Although the defense allowed 12 shots, only five were on target.
CASSIDY REICH and SAVANNAH CASTLES each took three shots to the lead the team, but Reich was only able to place one shot on goal. TORI GILLETT and SARAH WEBER each took two shots.
Turning Point
-- Tied 0-0 in the second overtime, Stamps was able to put the ball just past the goalie for the game winner.
Standout Performances
-- McNalley recorded five saves to give Piedmont its fourth shutout of the season.
