Lady Lions Down Agnes Scott 3-0 to Earn Fourth Win of the Season

Demorest, Ga. – Head coach Timmy McCormack and the Piedmont women's soccer team took a 3-0 win at the Walker Athletic Complex on Thursday afternoon in a dominating defensive performance.

After a slow opening to the start of the game, SARAH WEBER broke the scoreless tie with an assist from SAVANNAH CASTLES in the 14th minute. After the goal, both teams failed to find the back of the net as Piedmont led 1-0 going into the break.

The defense shined bright during the game and held the Scotties to one shot for the game. In the past two games, the Lady Lions have allowed just one shot. Freshman keeper MIRANDA MCNALLEY recorded her second shutout of the season and now posts a 4-0-1 record.

"I thought our overall team performance was very good," McCormack said. "The defense played well and I thought our combinations up top were very good. Overall I'm pleased but we need to get back to work and get ready for our next opponent."

Castles recorded her second assist in the 54th minute after finding JAZMIN PENADO off a brilliant cross. Penado was able to head the ball in and now has two goals on the season.
 
CASSIDY REICH scored the third goal for PC with an assist from TORI GILLETT in the 70th minute to extend the lead to 3-0.


Turning Point
-- Leading 1-0 after halftime, Penado put the Lady Lions up 2-0 and sealed the win.

Standout Performances
-- Reich led all players with five shots, three being on goal.
-- The defense allowed just one shot in the win.

News & Notes
-- Coach McCormack earned his first home win in his first home game at the Walker Athletic Complex.
-- Weber leads the Lady Lions for the season with four goals while Reich has a team-high 10 points (3 goals, 4 assists).
-- 24 players were able to see

-- The Lady Lions will take the weekend off and return to action on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. matchup at Berry College.
