Knoxville, TN - In come-from-behind fashion, the Piedmont College women's soccer team claimed a 2-1 double OT victory over Birmingham-Southern to open the 2017 season Friday.
TORI GILLETT provided the game-winner in the 117th minute off a cross from right to left as
CASSIDY REICH delivered the assist and Gillett found a wide open net.
The Panthers took a 1-0 lead into the second half after a goal by Rachel Motamed in the 37th minute, but the equalizer came off the foot of
JAZMIN PENADO in the 74th minute. Penado scored off a corner kick that bounced off an opponent to the middle of the box and she placed it in the upper left corner making it 1-1.
The Lady Lions had four new players touch the pitch in Friday's contest including
MIRANDA MCNALLEY who earned the start and the win in goal. McNalley allowed one goal while posting six saves.

--With the score knotted at one through the first OT, the deciding goal came in the 117th minute as the Lady Lions opened 2017 with a victory.

--This marks the second straight season the Lady Lions have opened the season with a contest extending to atleast OT.
--The Lady Lions took 17 shots to the Panthers' 11 shots.
