Baseball Records Season-High 22 Hits in 15-11 Win Over Berry

Mount Berry, GA - Thanks to a season-high 22 hits and 15 RBI, the Piedmont College baseball team picked up a 15-11 victory over Berry College on the road Tuesday night. A combined 18 pitchers were used in the contest as PC used seven with DREW COKER earning the win for the Lions tossing two innings during which Piedmont took the lead. 

The Lions scored first in the top of the second with NATHAN HOLT driving in GRIFFIN OLSON, but the Vikings answered back scoring two runs in each the second and third innings to lead 4-1. At that point, Piedmont went on a run scoring seven in the fourth inning to lead 8-4 with seven runs on seven hits and left the bases loaded. 

Piedmont would score again in every inning but the ninth inning with the Vikings threatening throughout including scoring three in the final frame, but the comeback fell short. The Lions were led by CALEB NORTON who was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with three runs scored while GRIFFIN OLSON and NATHAN HOLT both accounted for three hits each. 

Turning Point
--Piedmont had a seven run fourth inning to take control of the contest after trailing 4-1 entering the inning. 

Standout Performances
--CALEB NORTON was 4-for-4 with three runs scored and a walk as one of seven Lions to have a multi-hit performance. 

Inside the Box Score
--Eighteen pitchers were used between the two teams as PC had seven take the mound with Berry putting 11 different guys on the hill. 

News & Notes
--The Lions had a season-high 22 hits in the contest while also posting season-highs in at-bats and RBIs.

--The Lions return to action taking on Oglethorpe on Wednesday in Demorest with a 7:00 p.m. start.
