Women's Lacrosse Drops 18-7 Contest to Meredith in USA South Championship

LaGrange, GA - In the Piedmont College women's lacrosse team's fourth straight trip to the USA South Championship, the Lady Lions finished as runners up to Meredith losing an 18-7 contest. The Avenging Angels are now 16-1 while the Lady Lions finished the season at 10-8.

Piedmont got off to a hot start in the contest as they led three times over the opening 11 minutes of play posting a 4-3 lead when JENNA SMITH scored with 18:35 on the clock. The Avenging Angels though hit their stride from that point on scoring six unanswered to end the first half and took a 9-4 lead into the half. 

Meredith would score once again to open the second half with a 10-4 lead, but PC jumped back and CAITLIN O'BRIEN notched her second goal of the game just over a minute later. O'Brien would score once more in the second half to give her three goals to lead PC while it was senior JULIANNA SURGENT who scored PC's other goal in the second half. 

Carlee Joseph led all scorers as she accounted for five goals while Meredith had four players with three or more goals in the game. 

Turning Point
--Six unanswered goals by the Avenging Angels to end the first half created separation as Meredith led 9-4 at the break. 

Standout Performances
--CAITLIN O'BRIEN scored three goals in the contest on five shots. 

Inside the Box Score
--CASSIDY HEFLIN had an impressive day all around with a goal, two assists, two ground balls and five draw controls.

--Piedmont placed five athletes on the all-tournament team in Jenine Brideau, CASSIDY HEFLIN, CAITLIN O'BRIEN, JENNA SMITH and BLAKE FORREST
