Montgomery, AL - The Lady Lions were on the road taking on Huntingdon College Saturday afternoon and a late fourth quarter stand was not enough for the Lady Lions to pull out the win falling to the Hawks 66-62.
Piedmont was leading after the first thanks to a mid-quarter three from
JALEN DAVIS giving PC a 5-4 lead with 6:30 left in the opening quarter. A last minute lay-up from the Hawks would close the gap to one as the buzzer went off with Piedmont leading 13-12.
A nine-point run started the second quarter for the Lady Lions that ended with back to back threes from
BRIANNA BARRETT. However, this sparked the Huntingdon squad as they stopped PC's scoring streak and went on a 16-point run of their own before halftime as the Lady Lions trailed by four at the break.
Out of halftime, PC closed the gap with
AMARI PRICE and
DAKOTA SULLENS each connecting in the paint in under a minute. The difference maker in the third came from the charity stripe as the Hawks went 11-12 on free throws to Piedmont's 2-4.
CARLIE SHIELDS would end the quarter with a layup but the Lady Lions were still down 50-42.
Piedmont would go on an eight point run in the waning minutes of the fourth but it wasn't enough to hold off the Hawks as they shot 50% from the floor in the final quarter. The Lady Lions scored 20 points in the fourth but it was just short in the 66-62 loss.

--The Lady Lions pulled within four points in the final two minutes of the contest but the Hawks hit 6-of-10 free throws in the final minutes to seal the contest.
