LaGrange, GA - The Piedmont women's basketball team was on the road Sunday taking on the Panthers of LaGrange College with the Lady Lions dropping the contest 70-59.
PC came out quick with a seven point run the the first three minutes of play. The two squads battled through the 10 minutes holding an even score after the first tied at 17.
An early second quarter three from
BRIDGETTE KELLY would be the last points from the floor until less than five minutes left in the half for the Lady Lions. The Panthers managed 23 points in the second putting LaGrange up at halftime 40-35.
The third quarter was the Lady Lions' best defensive front of the game only allowing seven points but the offense was only able to manage 10. LaGrange had a steal and score in the final moments of the third swaying momentum in their favor as Piedmont trailed after three 47-45.
Piedmont was unable to hold off the offense of the Panthers as they scored another 23 points in the final quarter.
BRIANNA BARRETT was at the charity stripe shooting and hitting three to put PC within five but as the final minute dwindled LaGrange was able to connect on all six free throws to win the game 59-70.

--Piedmont allowed 23 points in two quarters giving the Panthers enough momentum to take the contest.
Standout Performances
--
CARLY SALES led the Lady Lions with a team high of 13 points as well as notching six rebounds.
--LaGrange's Lauren Johnson had a game high 23 points in the contest.
Inside the Box Score
--The Panthers shot 82.9% from the free throw line in the contest scoring 29 points from the charity stripe.

--Piedmont leads the series against the Panthers 22-12 overall.
