Game 2 Score: Piedmont 13, Wesleyan 1 (F-5)
Record: Lady Lions 10-6 (2-0), Wolves 2-8 (0-2)
Location: Macon, Georgia - Wesleyan College

Macon, GA  - The Piedmont College softball team picked up a doubleheader sweep of USA South foe Wesleyan College earlier Tuesday afternoon to open the 2017 conference slate with a pair of wins.

The Lady Lions used a quality performance from pitcher SARAH WALKER in game one to take a 3-0 shutout win before piling on 13 runs in the second game between the two for a 13-1 victory to complete the sweep.

Walker held the Wolves to just two hits while walking one compared to her four strikeouts issued.  The seven innings was her fifth complete game of the season and gave Piedmont all it needed to get the win after getting a run in the first on a JOSIE COKER RBI single before two more on an error in the 2nd made the final.

In game two, the Wolves scored first on a Claire Crawford double in the bottom of the first.  Piedmont would go in front though in the next half inning with RBIs from HALEY HIXON and ALLYSON GENTRY putting the Lady Lions up 2-1.

It was in the top of the third where the game was blown wide open as BECKA ROSS belted a 3-run home run which gave Piedmont a 5-1 lead and sparked 11 unanswered runs over the next three innings that ended the game early with PC pouring on eight of its 13 runs in the 5th inning alone.

Turning Point
--Piedmont's SARAH WALKER was in fine form in the game one win with her two-hit complete game performance sealing the deal for the visitors.
--BECKA ROSS' 3-run homer in the top of the third of game two blew a one-run ballgame wide open as PC would go on to finish it off in five.

Standout Performances
--BECKA ROSS went 3-for-4 with five RBIs and two runs scored in the encore match-up between these two programs earlier Tuesday.
--SARAH WALKER working in the circle in game one kept PC in control as she tossed all seven innings giving up only two hits while fanning four.

Inside the Box Score
--Only one of the three runs in the first contest scored by PC was an earned run with the other two coming on an error in the 2nd inning.
