Burden's 4-for-5 Day Powers Piedmont Past Univ. of Dallas 14-4

Jackson, MS - The Piedmont College baseball team once again put on an offensive showcase as the Lions won 14-4 over University of Dallas Saturday. ANDREW BURDEN was a one man wrecking crew going 4-for-5 at the plate with three doubles, a triple, three runs scored and three RBI.

The sophomore Burden has started all eight contests this season for the Lions and has one of the best batting averages on the team accounting for 15 hits through eight games to lead the team. Burden also has a team-high 12 RBI this season and has been walked four times. 

SAM CARPENTER picked up his first collegiate win in his first start of the season as the freshman from Gainesville, Georgia is now 1-0. 

The Lions finish the trip to Millsaps taking on the home team Sunday at 4 p.m. after defeating the Majors 13-2 to open the trip to Jackson, MS. 

Turning Point
--Piedmont put up seven runs in the fifth inning after having put up two runs in each the first, third and fourth innings with the game already in favor of the Lions 6-0.

Standout Performances
--ANDREW BURDEN had a 4-for-5 day at the plate including three doubles and a triple as he accounted for three runs scored and three RBI. 

Inside the Box Score
--The Lions turned a triple play in the fourth inning with a line out to right field leading to a L9-3-6 triple play. 

News & Notes
--Piedmont is now 6-2 this season and has put up 10 or more runs three times in eight games.

--The Lions take on Millsaps in the final contest of the weekend on the road Sunday at 4 after defeating the Majors 13-2 on Thursday.
