Jackson, MS - The Piedmont College baseball team hit the road for four contests over four days in Jackson, Mississippi beginning with a bang, winning 13-2 over Millsaps on their home field. The Lions have now won five in a row to move to 5-1 this season after opening the season with a close loss to Guilford.
The Lions' fireworks started in the second inning when Piedmont sent 15 batters to the plate and scored nine runs chasing the Majors' starting pitcher after 1.2 innings. Piedmont had nine runs on just six hits and one error leaving the bases loaded after three of the final four batters in the inning were walked.
Piedmont would add another pair in the top of the fifth inning and score in the seventh and eighth innings.
MAX BENING earned the win, his first of the season, tossing 5.2 innings while
RYAN STEWART came in relief with
P.J. DEJESUS tossing the final inning.
BRADY BALLSTADT had three runs scored in the game while
ZACH LANGLEY totaled three hits in the contest.
ANDREW BURDEN continued his hit streak to start the year as he has had at least one hit in each game to start the season.
Piedmont has been dominant offensively scoring seven or more runs in four of the six games played this season. The hot start for the Lions has included wins over Methodist and #6 Birmingham-Southern College.

--The Lions posted a 9-run second inning to take a commanding lead as it was never in doubt from that point on.

ZACH LANGLEY posted three hits going 3-for-5 with three runs scored and an RBI Thursday.

MAX BENING earned the win pitching 5.2 innings giving up one run to move to 1-0 on the season in his third start.
