Rome, GA Â - The Piedmont College Lady Lions suffered a pair of losses Sunday taking on #6 Berry College dropping a 5-2 decision in game one and losing 8-0 in five innings in the second contest.
ALLYSON GENTRY accounted for the lone runs of the day as she hit a two-run homer in game one in the top of the seventh inning.
It was a quiet game through the first three innings as neither team had recorded more than one hit in an inning, but in the fourth inning a leadoff single came around to score on a home run by the Vikings making it 2-0. A triple and a sacrifice would score two more an inning later before Berry added its final run on a single down the left field line to lead it 5-0.Â
The Lady Lions fought back with their backs against the wall, down to the final three outs as
LINSAY LINK drew a walk and Gentry brought her home on a home run, her first of her career.Â
It was all Vikings in game two as pitcher Marie Collop tossed a no hitter while
KORY BEST came on in relief pitching 2.1 innings giving up just three hits and one unearned run.Â
Turning Point
--Piedmont allowed three runs in the fifth inning of game one which ended up being the deciding factor.Â
--The Lady Lions were only able to put three batters aboard in the contest while the Vikings recorded eight runs on eight hits and two walks.Â

LINSAY LINK in the top of the seventh providing the lone runs of the afternoon for PC.Â
--Marie Collop tossed a no hitter for Berry in game two allowing just three walks and striking out six batters.Â
