DEMOREST, Ga. – The Piedmont College women's basketball team was in action Saturday in front of the home fans against the Monarchs of Methodist University and despite a slow first quarter, the Lady Lions powered through to a 82-42 victory.

Both teams were held scoreless for nearly all of the first two minutes of the contest until BRIDGETTE KELLY claimed the first two off of a steal and score play. DAKOTA SULLENS found Amari Price for the next basket for PC which Methodist responded to nine seconds later at 7:53 left in the opening quarter. Jatasia Bailey drained a long ball for three to put Piedmont past ten points in the first. PC would lead after one 14-9 over the Monarchs. 

Kelly would start the scoring for PC once again to open up the second quarter which would open up a seven point run for the Lady Lions. With just under four to go in the half, Lakerra Lawson claimed three points for Piedmont to put the Lady Lions up by 14. PC would tack on another 14 before the halftime break without allowing the Monarchs to put up any more points. The Lady Lions led 40-14 at the half. 

The scoring would continue for PC into the third quarter as the Lady Lions would score 29 points. JALEN DAVIS would score eight points in a row and follow that with a 3-pointer in the final 30 seconds of the quarter to put PC up 69-24 heading into the final 10 minutes. 

The Lady Lions would hold off the Monarchs for the fourth quarter as well winning the contest 82-42. 

Turning Point
--In the second quarter PC held Methodist to five points while the Lady Lions managed 26 to lead to the win for Piedmont. 

Standout Performances
--Bailey led Piedmont in scoring with 13 points for the Lady Lions. 
--Davis scored 11 points for the Lady Lions all coming in the third quarter.

Inside the Box Score
--For the second time this season, all of the Lady Lions were able to score in a single contest. 

News & Notes
--Piedmont is now 10-5 against the Monarchs since the first meeting in 2005.

--The Lady Lions continue into the new year taking on Huntingdon College on January 6 at 2:00 p.m. in Demorest.
