LaGrange, Ga. - The Piedmont College women's basketball team won their conference opener on the road against the LaGrange Panthers 67-52 early Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Lions would go down two points early as LaGrange scored on their opening possession, but PC would score five and gain a lead that would last the rest of the contest. A three pointer from CARLIE SHIELDS would be the go-ahead point for the Lady Lions with just over eight to play in the first. DAKOTA SULLENS and RACHEL IRBY would score next for PC as the Lady Lions went on a short six point run halfway through the opening period. LaGrange made an effort to come back but PC would hold out for an 18-12 score after the first horn.

LAKERRA LAWSON started the scoring for PC in the second quarter netting a deep ball to put the Lady Lions back up by seven. Four free throws for the Panthers would put them within one possession with less than five to play before the break. JATASIA BAILEY scored four times for Piedmont to the Panthers' single bucket as Bailey gathered eight points on her own closing out the Piedmont first half scoring. Piedmont led at the break 31-24.

The third quarter was the Lady Lions best scoring quarter as they managed 20 points to the Panthers' 16. PC's third period scoring was highlighted by back-to-back three pointers from JALEN DAVIS and CARLIE SHIELDS with 3:30 left before the final break. The Lady Lions closed out the third leading 51-40 over the Panthers.

Two free throws from DAKOTA SULLENS would open up the fourth quarter with a quick response from a LaGrange three with less than a minute gone in the final period. LaGrange scored only seven points in the final five minutes of play to PC's nine to help the Lady Lions keep the gap created in the early periods.
