ATLANTA, Ga. - The Piedmont College women's basketball team moved to 4-1 after a road victory against the Emory Eagles, 54-48 Thursday.

Neither team was able to gain an advantage in the opening quarter as the Lady Lions had an answer for every shot that the Eagles would land. Emory held a three point lead with four minutes to go and CARLIE SHIELDS hit a lay up followed shortly by BRITTANY WALKER hitting one from the charity stripe to even the scores at 10 to end the quarter. 

DAKOTA SULLENS knocked down a mid-range jumper to start off the second quarter and set the pace for PC. With just under eight minutes to go, AMARI PRICE extended the Piedmont lead to five points after driving to the hoop for the layup. Late quarter free throws would put Emory back within two points, but LAKERRA LAWSON hit a three pointer with seven seconds to go into halftime up 27-22.

In the third quarter, PC was outscored 15-13 as Emory managed a five point run with under a minute before the final break. With 10 seconds on the clock, AMARI PRICE would get the driving layup to fall to end the quarter in favor of Piedmont 40-37.

The Eagles would score the first points of the fourth quarter, but the Lady Lions answered with a nine point run with six of those points coming from the paint and the remaining three off a BRIDGETTE KELLY deep ball. Emory would try and close the 10 point gap but the Lady Lions would hold them off and win 54-48.

Turning Point
--The late game nine point run for the Lady Lions would edge out the Eagles and give Piedmont their fourth win in the 2017-18 season.

Standout Performances
--AMARI PRICE led the Lady Lions in scoring with 11 points for PC while also picking up a game-high eight rebounds 

Inside the Box Score
--The Lady Lions have scored more bench points than four of their five opponents.

News & Notes
--Piedmont is now 9-13 against the Eagles since their first meeting in 2003.
