DEMOREST, Ga. – The Piedmont College men's soccer team wrapped up the 2017 season with a 3-0 loss to #3 Covenant College on Saturday in the first round of the USA South tournament. The contest marked the first time the Lions have hosted a USA South playoff game since joining the league in 2012.Â
The Scots took the lead in the 20th minute off a corner kick and added another score in the first half for a 2-0 lead at the break. Both first half goals were headers as Carl Simakoff scored the first while Anthony Buzzeo scored the second.Â
The final goal of the day came off the foot of Matt Morefield who scored off a free kick from 30 yards out. Alen Maslo worked in goal for Piedmont for the final 70 minutes of the contest allowing the three scores while picking up four saves.Â
Piedmont was out-shot 19-8 with just one shot on target for Piedmont as
CHASE KANE had the lone shot on goal for PC.Â

Turning Point
--The game-winning goal came in the 20th minute of the contest as Covenant capitalized on a corner kick with Carl Simakoff scoring off an assist by Parker Owen.Â

--The Lions have never beaten Covenant with an 0-9-1 overall record against the Scots.Â
