BREVARD, N.C. – The Piedmont women's soccer team scored two goals in the second half to take a 2-0 win over Brevard College on Wednesday night.
Earlier on Wednesday, Piedmont was ranked ninth in the South Atlantic Region by the NCAA. Ahead of the Lady Lions are Birmingham-Southern (No. 7) and Centre (No. 8). Earlier this season, Piedmont took a 2-1 win over the Panthers and battled Centre to a 0-0 draw.
After a scoreless first half, junior
CASSIDY REICH scored in the 48th minute off an assist from
JAZMIN PENADO to give Piedmont the lead. Reich finished with a game-high four shots, one goal and one assist.
Just under 20 minutes later, Reich found Penado to give Piedmont the 2-0 lead. The Lady Lions were able to hold on for the remainder of the game as they picked up their 14th win on the season.
ANSLYN STAMPS finished with two shots on goal to lead Piedmont while
EMILY SKELTON started the game in goal and recorded five saves. Freshman
MIRANDA MCNALLEY played the second half in goal and finished with two saves.
