Women’s Soccer Rolls to 8-0 Win over Berea

DEMOREST, Ga. – CASSIDY REICH scored three goals in the first half to lead the Piedmont women's soccer team to an 8-0 win over Berea College on Sunday at the Walker Athletic Complex. The Lady Lions close their home regular season schedule for the season with a 6-0-2 record.

Reich opened the game with a goal in sixth minute with an assist from SAMANTHA ISHEE. Just under seven minutes later, defender ABBEY DUNLOP cleared the ball and found a streaking Reich to give PC a 2-0 lead.

In the 17th minute of play, SAVANNAH CASTLES put the Lady Lions ahead by three before Reich scored her third of the game in the 20th minute.

COURTNEY BELL added a goal late in the half to give Piedmont a 5-0 lead at the break. The Lady Lions took 18 shots in the opening 45 and added four corner kicks.

Piedmont went on to score goals in the 56th minute from SARAH WEBER and in the 58th off a successful penalty kick from ERIN BRIGHT.

Piedmont's final goal came after the Berea goalkeeper handled the ball outside of the box, setting the Lady Lions up for a free kick right outside the box. Ishee was able to get the kick off before the goalie was back in her cage and gave Piedmont an 8-0 lead in the 72nd minute.

Freshman goalie MIRANDA MCNALLEY recorded two saves in the win. SAVANNAH CASTLES led all players with six shots, five of them being on goal.

News & Notes
-- Reich now has a team-high 13 goals for the season and eight assists.
-- With the win, Piedmont finished the regular season unbeaten in Demorest, a first since 2013.
