Lady Lions Battle to a 2-2 Draw Against Conference Rival Maryville

DEMOREST, Ga. – The Piedmont women's soccer team and the Maryville Scots battled to a 2-2 double-overtime draw on a hot Saturday afternoon at the Walker Athletic Complex.

Both teams entered the contest unbeaten in USA South Athletic Conference play and sit atop the West Division in the conference.

The Scots scored the game's first goal in the 35th minute off a free kick which ricocheted off the post into the goal. Maryville was able to hold off PC in the first half and took a 1-0 lead into halftime.

CASSIDY REICH evened the score in the 60th minute as she was able to beat the keeper off a far strike. The junior finished the game with six shots on goal.

Maryville retook the lead in the 63rd off a corner kick before Reich tied the game again in the 82nd.

Piedmont outshot Maryville 21-10 while Maryville recorded seven saves to Piedmont's three.
