Greensboro, N.C. - The Piedmont men's soccer team hit the road for the first time in 2016 losing a close contest to Guilford College 4-2 in Greensboro, N.C. The Lions saw a pair of goals by CHASE KANE but the junior's efforts were not enough to top the Quakers who proved to be tough defensively.

After some promising opportunities early in the contest, Guilford netted the first goal of the game in the 12th minute as Noah Hedrick finished a shot by Seth Garrison that hit the post giving the Quakers a 1-0 lead. The second goal of the contest for Guilford came on a shot from the left side by Enrique Gudino in the 23rd minute making it 2-0.

The Lions struggled to get offensive opportunities early in the game with the best offensive look early in the first half coming off the foot of VICTOR MUNOZ who launched a long shot but it was saved by Guilford's Eric Hayes. Just minutes later, CHASE KANE scored the first goal of the day for Piedmont making it 2-1 in the 35th minute, the final score of the first period.

In the second period, Noah Hedrick once again found the back of the net for the Quakers making it 3-1 Guilford, but Hedrick wasn't the only players to net two goals on the day as Piedmont's CHASE KANE scored again as well. Kane's second goal came in the 55th minute just under four minutes after Hedrick's shot making it a 3-2 contest.

The Quakers made it 4-2 with 14 minutes to play which sealed the game for Guilford as they held the Lions scoreless in the final minutes of play. Piedmont moves to 1-1 following the loss with Toccoa Falls on the schedule in just two days at home inside Walker Athletic Complex.
