Danville, KY - The 2016 season began with extra time for the Lady Lions as the Piedmont College women's soccer team lost in overtime to DePauw 3-2. Piedmont's come-from-behind effort came up just short after leading 1-0 and scoring late to force the extra period. 

SAMANTHA ISHEE got the Lady Lions on the board first as she netted the first goal of the '16 season for Piedmont in the 12th minute as PC led 1-0 at the half. ASHLYN ATNIP played all 45 minutes of the first half in goal for Piedmont collecting a pair of saves, both coming within two mintues of one another. 

The Tigers jumped on the board in the 48th minute as Kathryn Ruark scored knotting it up at 1 all and a goal in the 76th minute by Rebekah Crone gave DePauw a 2-1 lead. CASSIDY REICH didn't let that last long as she netted a goal on a penalty kick in the 84th minute tying it up and leading to the overtime period.

The golden goal came in the 97th minute as time was winding down by Shaili Kumar to seal the victory for the Tigers. Piedmont moves to 0-1 facing #5 Centre College and tournament host Sunday afternoon. 

Turning Point
--DePauw's gamewinner in overtime was the key moment as the Lady Lions scored late to force OT.

Standout Performances
--CASSIDY REICH scored late in the contest (84th minute) forcing the overtime period as Piedmont trailed 2-1 to the Tigers.

Inside the Box Score
--SAMANTHA ISHEE scored Piedmont's first goal of the season in the 12th minute putting Piedmont on the board first. 

News & Notes
--DePauw had 13 shots to Piedmont's six but only seven were on frame for the Tigers while four were for the Lady Lions.

The Lady Lions face #5 Centre College Sunday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. in Danville, Kentucky. The Colonels are 1-0 after a 4-0 win over Wilmington and faced John Carroll on Saturday.
