Lookout Mountain, GA - On the road for the first of two USA South contests, the Piedmont College women's soccer team could not hold off the Scots of Covenant College as a late goal sealed the fate for the Lady Lions, 2-1.  

Piedmont allowed the first score in the contest when Covenant's Lizzy Hightower took a chance from distance finding the far side netting for the lead in the 31st minute.  

With the score coming against the run of play in the first, the home team settled in to control the play slowing things down as just six shots combined ended the first half between the two.  

In the second, play opened up a bit more especially after Piedmont scored in the 69th minute on an ABBEY DUNLOP corner kick that Covenant keeper Rachel Lemay could not handle as it dropped over the line for the equalizer. 

Despite pulling level, Piedmont saw the home team head away a cross in the 85th minute of play that put the home team back up one, a 2-1 scoreline that would hold as the final on the mountain.  

Turning Point
--Covenant's score with just over five minutes to play set the difference between the two sides as Piedmont could not rally to get the road win.  

Standout Performances
--Covenant's Lizzy Hightower scored twice on the night including the late gamewinner, her first two goals of the 2016 season. 
--Piedmont saw CASSIDY REICH pile on seven shots finding the target four times forcing Rachel Lemay to make several key stops for the Scots.  

Inside the Box Score
--The shot count was fairly even slightly favoring PC 11-10 with the Lady Lions holding a slim 7-6 edge in shots on target. 
--Piedmont held a 5-0 advantage in corners though scoring off one with ABBEY DUNLOP's drive right on top of Lemay. 

News & Notes
--The win for Covenant is the third straight as the Scots' only loss this season came in the opener vs. Berry, 1-0. 
--The score for Piedmont's Dunlop is the first career goal for the Lady Lion centerback.

Piedmont stays on the road for the weekend with a Saturday showdown at Maryville College with kickoff set for 5:30 pm in Tennessee.
