Location: Greensboro, North Carolina - Haynes Gym

Greensboro, NC - The Piedmont College volleyball team responded to last night's defeat with a pair of straight set wins on Sunday at the final day of the Greensboro Invitational.  First for the Lady Lions, a morning 3-0 win over Eastern Mennonite University before an afternoon 3-0 win over Elizabeth City State University.

Against Eastern Mennonite, it was a recurring theme for the Lady Lions who used defense to set the tone holding the Royals to a negative hitting percentage. It's the second time that PC has forced an opponent into the negatives on the weekend.

Piedmont stormed out to a big win the first set 25-11 before rolling again in the second 25-12. Tallying seven total blocks to just one for the Royals, Piedmont continued to apply pressure winning 25-14 in the third for another sweep in 2016.

In the afternoon match, Piedmont overwhelmed Elizabeth City State University holding the Vikings to only eight points in the first set.  It went downhill for ECSU in the second set as the Lady Lions held their opponent to just five total points before letting up in the third to win 25-14 for the 3-0 sweep.

It was the serve that set the difference for Piedmont as ECSU's serve receive was not up to the challenge with PC totaling 18 aces against the Vikings.  Accounting for half of those 18 was sophomore setter EMILY PETERS whose nine aces is a new program record in the 25-Point Era (since 2008).

Turning Point
--Piedmont raced out to an 8-0 lead in the opening set vs. Eastern Mennonite to bounce back from a loss yesterday in tourney play.
--Seven aces including five from Peters alone in the first set against ECSU provided a foundation for the Lady Lions in their second sweep of the day.

Standout Performances
--KAITLYN LOESEL continues to impress leading the team with her 8 kills on 22 attempts with just one error vs. EMU.
--AMANDA TROTTER also swung well with a .556 hitting percentage vs. EMU before following it up with a .455 showing in the encore.
--EMILY PETERS was lights out in the second match on the serve with nine aces, a new program record, to go with a game-high 17 assists.
--KATELYN DURMIRE was seven for eight on the attack in game two of the day for an astounding .875 hitting percentage with no erorrs.

Inside the Box Score
--Piedmont did not give up much to Eastern Mennonite who came in with a 5-2 record but never created more than 14 points in a set.
--It was more of the same in the afternoon match as PC held Elizabeth City St. to just 13 points over the first two sets combined.

News & Notes
--In the second match of the day, Piedmont was on point on the serve compiling 18 aces, a number which tied for the third best in the program records.
--The record for aces in a three-set match by any Piedmont team since 2008 is 31 set against Wesleyan in 2009...the Lady Lions host the Pioneers for Senior Night later this season in USA South play.
