MELISSA ECKMAN (9-4) and
AVERY MIGUES (3-0) earned the wins in the circle for Piedmont.Â
Eckman got it done in both pitching and batting as her first collegiate hit ended game one as she hit a two-RBI double to give the Lady Lions an 11-2 win. Eckman tossed the complete five innings giving up two runs on four hits with seven strikeouts, two off her career best which was in 6.1 innings pitched.Â

LAURA CARTER as Piedmont led 1-0 after one and 2-0 after the second inning. The Scotties tied the game in the third but Piedmont came back with a strong answer in the fourth inning with seven runs and the final two came off Eckman's double to end the game.Â
Game two saw the Lady Lions score 18 in the first inning before an out had been recorded as all 18 runs and 10 hits for Piedmont came in the first frame. There were also seven walks issued in the first inning to the Lady Lions.
Turning Point--
LAURA CARTER's bases-clearing double in the fourth inning broke the tie and put the Lady Lions ahead 5-2.
--Piedmont had four straight hits to start game two including three doubles which put Piedmont out in front early.Â
Standout Performances--A two-RBI double by
MELISSA ECKMAN sealed the victory as the freshman came through in her first at bat of her collegiate career while also earning the win in the circle as she is now 9-4 this season.Â

HANNAH HOBAN was 2-for-2 with two runs scored and five RBI in game two with those marks all coming in the first inning.Â
Inside the Box Score--
LAURA CARTER was 4-for-5 in the doubleheader with a double and a triple as well as five runs scored and four RBI.Â
--Piedmont sent 24 batters to the plate in the first inning of game two.Â
News & Notes--Piedmont had six stolen bases in the first contest and five doubles.Â
--All of Piedmont's runs and hits came in the first inning of the second contest. Up Next--Piedmont will be in action Sunday taking on Greensboro in USA South play at Walker Athletic Complex.Â
