Rocky Mount, N.C.  - The Lady Lions' 10-game win streak came to an end with an opening loss to N.C. Wesleyan College but Piedmont came back for a victory in game two to split the contests with the Battling Bishops. Piedmont dropped a 4-3 decision in game one and rebounded with a 3-2 victory in the second outing. 

Piedmont trailed 1-0 after the Battling Bishops scored a run in the second inning but the Lady Lions took the lead with three runs in the top of the fifth. Those three runs were scored on a single hit and three errors by N.C. Wesleyan as Piedmont had just one hit in the game. 

The lead was surrendered in the sixth inning with three runs scored off a double and a two-run home run making it 4-3. MELISSA ECKMAN took the loss for the Lady Lions pitching all but the final out of the game as her record moved to 7-4 this season.

Game two was a similar story as it was a low-scoring affair with N.C. Wesleyan taking the lead and the Lady Lions working back from behind. The Battling Bishops took the lead 2-0 in the bottom of the first but Piedmont fought back to tie the game in the second inning on an ALLYSON GENTRY bunt single that scored a pair of runs.

It was HANNAH HOBAN who sealed the win with the game-winning run as she singled to score LAURA CARTER in the fifth inning making it 3-2. Hoban is coming off a three home run day against Mary Baldwin College as the freshman is putting in quite the resume for USA South Player or Rookie of the Week. 

It was KORY BEST who earned the win in relief in the circle for Piedmont for her first win of her career giving up just a single hit in 3.1 innings with a walk and a strikeout. 

Turning Point
--A three-spot in the bottom of the sixth gave the Battling Bishops the lead again in game one and sealed the victory for N.C. Wesleyan.
--None other than HANNAH HOBAN provided the game-winning hit with an RBI single to left field scoring LAURA CARTER in the fifth inning of game two. 

Standout Performances
--Battling Bishops pitcher Logan Lowery threw a one-hitter allowing no earned runs to the Lady Lions in game one.
--HANNAH HOBAN was the lone Lady Lion to record a pair of hits in game two going 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Inside the Box Score
--Piedmont's three runs in game one came in the fifth inning on one hit and three errors by the Battling Bishops. 

News & Notes
--The Lady Lions are now 10-2 in conference play but still at the top of the league ahead of Averett University who is 8-2 this season but both of those losses came to Piedmont College.

--Piedmont finishes a road stretch at Methodist University Saturday with a doubleheader set to begin at 1 p.m.
